I plan to do a poster similar to this i have already started creating some examples of what kind of poster i want in Photoshop and they will be on blogs to come. Overall i really like the poster, i think it conveys things about the film that you would not know unless you read up on it. This text doesn’t signify any key elements of the film but it looks cool with the optical flair beneath it. For my poster i will use a similar font and also make it in Cinema 4D. The font is a 3D bold metallic font which looks like it was made in a program like Cinema 4D.

This does not serve any significance but it is relevant to the trailer. This could be linked to the opening of the trailer as the scene is in a plane and some of the shots are of clouds. The background of the poster seems to be a cloud based grunge. This connotes the fantasy element of the genre, and also suggests that she is the entity that was able to cause the destruction of the city shown below her. In addition to this her eyes are a golden sand colour further emphasizing that her lore is relevant to ancient Egypt.įurthermore, the eyes of the antagonist are doubled (two eyes in each socket). Her design on the poster is very symbolic of ancient Egypt overall. The symbolic markings denote a specific aspect of the past and seem to be a type of hieroglyphic or sign to do with ancient Egypt. The background image of Princess Ahmanet’s face are also representative of the ‘lore’ that surrounds her character. If no one recognised him just by his face there is bold text ahead of him stating who he is for anyone who didn’t know. This is done to good effect because it will intrigue the audience to want to look into the film or even to watch it for themselves. They chose to put Tom Cruise in the middle of the poster because he is an iconic actor, has been very successful in other films and is known as being a “good looking actor”. This suggests to the audience that he is the main character in the film along side Princess Ahmanet. Then Tom Cruise is placed in front of her aligned in the middle of the screen. As expected Princess Ahmanet is placed at the top of the poster looking strait into the camera making her look intimidating and powerful. The order that the creators have put the characters in terms of height signifies their power and influence in the film. It usually has a negative connotation (blacklist, black humor, ‘black death’). Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). Darkness is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery. This could suggest that the city is falling into darkness because of Princess Ahmanet. In addition to this beneath the city there is a void of blackness. From the image it also looks like Tom Cruise is getting sucked in by this sand connoting that he will also be affected by Princess Ahmanet in the film. This is effective because before watching the film or seeing any of the lore the audience is automatically thinking about sand and what it represents (ancient Egypt). To the lower half of the poster there is a extreme long shot of a city that seems to be getting absorbed by sand. The creators of the poster really thought about the lore of the film when creating it.

When people think of ancient Egypt it is symbolic for sand, pyramids and sarcophaguses. Once in line to be the queen of Ancient Egypt, Ahmanet murdered her father and his family in order to resurrect Set, an act for which she was cursed for all eternity and buried alive, until she is accidentally freed as the titular Mummy.” ( (2017_film)#Cast) The ancient Egyptian Goddess known as Princess Ahmanet “She is loosely based on the ancient Egyptian goddess, Amunet. the colour-way of the poster is effective as it is representative of the lore of the film. My initial thoughts on this poster are really positive.
